Say Goodbye to USB Sticks: Wirelessly Transfer Files to Your OneFinity CNC

If you're using a OneFinity CNC, you might be wondering if you're stuck in the endless cycle of saving files to a USB drive and physically carrying it over to your machine. Good news: you're not! You can absolutely upload your project files remotely over your Wi-Fi network, making your workflow faster and more efficient.

Your OneFinity machine has a powerful built-in web interface that lets you control the machine and upload g-code directly from the computer you use for design. Let's break down how it works.

Your Wireless Workflow: From CarveCo to Carving

While CarveCo Maker (the program I use to program my cuts and etches on the CNC) doesn't have a direct "send to machine" button for the OneFinity, the process is incredibly simple. You will save the toolpaths from CarveCo as a standard g-code file, and then upload that file through your web browser.

Step-by-Step Guide to Wireless File Transfers

  1. Connect Your OneFinity to Wi-Fi: First, ensure your OneFinity machine is connected to your local Wi-Fi network. You can do this through the settings on the machine's controller.

  2. Find Your Machine's IP Address: On the controller's screen, you will find the IP address assigned to your CNC. It will look something like 192.168.1.123. Jot this down.

  3. Export G-Code from CarveCo Maker: Once your design and toolpaths are complete in CarveCo Maker, go to save or export your toolpaths. You will need to select the correct post-processor for your machine (OneFinity has specific ones - mine is a BB processor, so I choose OneFinity - BB (inch) (*.ngc)) and save the file. This will generate a standard g-code file with a .ngc extension.

  4. Access the Web Interface: Open a web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) on your computer, which must be on the same Wi-Fi network as your CNC. Type your machine's IP address into the address bar and press Enter. This will load the OneFinity control interface. It may take a moment to load, it's not a massive server, it's a simple machine!

  5. Upload Your File: In the web interface, look for an "Upload" button or a file management section. Select the .nc or .gcode file you just saved from CarveCo. The file will be sent wirelessly to your machine's controller, ready to run!

A More Efficient Workshop

By adopting this wireless workflow, you not only save yourself the hassle of fiddling with USB drives but also streamline your entire process from design to carve. It's a small change that makes a big difference in your workshop's efficiency.
