The Pencil
The Pencil

It's a pick. It's an awl. It's a wood marking tool/marking knife. It's a punch. It's a scribe (spiral/twisted). It's a sharp pointy thing. It is... The Pencil.
Made from large twisted steel nails, The Pencil is useful in the shop, or just about anywhere. Sharpened to a point, with a nice rounded top edge, and roughly the shape and size of an actual pencil. You can use it in woodworking, metalworking, leatherworking, general contracting, printmaking, and probably a load of other use cases as well (let me know them please!)
Each Pencil is about 7 inches, although sizes may vary slightly.
Belt loop sheaths will fit up to a 2" belt, and pocket clips are available in both silver and black.
Other Information... FAQ/Maintenance/Warnings/etc.
- It's made from solid, hardened steel, so if the tip ever gets dull, just hand sand or grind it back to sharpness (although, I won't fault you for buying more than one...)
- This is made from steel, so it needs to be cared for just like any other steel tool. It may rust, so be sure to put oil on it from time to time (like WD-40, Boeshield T-9, CRC C-36, etc.)
- Not for kids, don't stab anyone with it. Use it in the shop.
- If the sheath is tight, apply some leather or furniture wax to The Pencil to help it slip in and out of the sheath as needed (this will also help protect The Pencil)
- IT IS A SHARP POKEY THING! Included with this order is a tip saver for The Pencil (if you did not order a sheath!). This is mainly used to ensure The Pencil does not make its way out of the package during shipping, so it is nothing fancy. This is not intended as a sheath, but may be useful when storing your The Pencil, such as in a tool drawer. The Pencil is extremely sharp and pointy, and will easily make its way through the bottom of a pocket without something protecting it!
